Summer brings to mind images of outdoor activities in the sun, s’mores over a campfire at sunset, and cooling off in a pool on a hot day – all of which happens at Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania’s (GSHPA) Camp Small Valley.

Quietly seated in the mountains of Dauphin County, Camp Small Valley is home away from home for many Girl Scouts in the summer. But before campers packed their bags for camp this season, Prismworks Technology toured the property to ensure critical technology systems were in place and working efficiently for the summer camp staff.

Camp staff and Girl Scouts from near and far will live at Camp Small Valley this summer. While campers connect with nature and friends, a Prismworks-installed-and-managed network will help camp staff stay connected for a seamless and safe camp experience for visiting Girl Scouts.

Prismworks fitted Camp Small Valley with a hub-and-spoke design network to provide connectivity across the 762-acre property. The camp’s Star Center serves as home base for the infrastructure with the connection dispersed through 15 access points via fiber cabling and point-to-point devices. The property also relies on a SIP Call Button alerting system which enables camp-wide communication in an emergency. Before every summer camp season, Prismworks enjoys its own day at camp setting up equipment, checking Wi-Fi connections, and making sure switches are up to date.

GSHPA has been a Prismworks customer for nearly seven years. In addition to tech support at Camp Small Valley, Prismworks also services the non-profit under a Preferred Support Plan (PSP) contract.
