Today marks the fourth annual Identity Management Day, an awareness campaign created to educate business professionals and the public about the importance of identity management.

There are many precautions you can take to protect your personal data online. Consider implementing a few of these identity management practices supported by the National Cybersecurity Alliance.

Watch out for “phishy” communication.

Stay aware of phishing attempts made via email or text. If you don’t recognize the sender or the email looks “phishy,” do not respond and do not click any links or open any attachments. These emails may be infected with malware! Check out our Security Awareness Training in partnership with KnowBe4 to better protect yourself and your business from online attacks.

Add an extra layer of security with MFA.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an additional security measure to prevent unwanted access to devices and accounts. MFA can be used for email, VPN, networks, and more for both professional and personal accounts.

Get creative with your passwords.

The cardinal rule of account security? Have a different password for each of your accounts. Using the same password for all your logins is convenient for you…and for hackers. Instead of using short letter/number combinations, create passphrases to keep your accounts protected. Explore our Red Sentry subscriptions which offer vulnerability scanning and credential monitoring that help keep your data and environment secure 24/7/365.
